York Memorial collegiate has been the center of safety concerns for staff and students.

Organizers want to highlight what they call "deplorable conditions" and demand justice for students citing several factors, including racial violence and a lack of resources, reports CP24.

The protests come after several staff members told CTV news that they've "received death threats" and sworn and claimed the bathrooms were being used as fight clubs.
A demonstration is underway.

While speaking to the media, the students said, "fifteen-sixteen year old put guns in their faces...this is not a jail," emphasizing the fact that schools should be a space where students come to learn, be creative and more, but with such heavy police presence on a daily basis eliminates the concept of growth and learning.
The school students, staff, and parents want TDSB Director, Collin Russell-Rawlins, to do an inquest into the school and allocate more resources to prevent police presence.
