The funding will help develop mental health and also help with trauma and substance use services.

"Care can introvert crisis. This is why access to culturally grounded mental health and addiction care is so important. All members of the community should have access to the type of support they need."

PM Trudeau highlighted,

"Today, we're taking action to improve access to care for the people of James Smith Cree Nation."

"We'll invest 40 million dollars over six years to build a new wellness center here in the community and to repurpose the existing Sakwatamo Lodge to address the immediate need," said PM Trudeau.

In the wake of the attacks, there have been calls for more indigenous policing for Canadian First Nations.
