NMACC: India's billionaire Ambani family launches Indian arts & cultural centre; new revenue stream

Mumbai, India is buzzing with excitement over the grand opening of NMACC (Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre). Guests from India and around the world were left in awe of the impressive vision created by the wife of Indian businessman Mukesh Ambani, Nita Ambani.

The centre will attract a wide spectrum of artists from a variety of fields, including costume makers, visual artists, and performers. The vision of Nita Ambani, a trained Indian classical dancer, has become a reality. Together with her daughter Isha Ambani, a Yale and Stanford grad, they helped shape this reality.

On the opening day, a special dessert was served to guests at the NMACC with a piece of currency attached.

In support of NMACC, celebrities including supermodel Gigi Hadid, actress Zendaya, Penelope Cruz, and actor Tom Holland attended. A saree by Rahul Mishra was chosen by Zendaya as her outfit of choice.

Indian billionaire and business tycoon Mukesh Ambani's daughter Isha Ambani presented opening remarks at the NMACC gala and thanked the guests in attendance.

In Forbes' list of Youngest Billionaire Heiresses, Isha Ambani ranks second. She serves on the boards of Jio and Reliance, the companies owned by her father.

Isha graduated from Yale University with a degree in Psychology and South Asian studies and from Stanford University with an MBA. As a Business Analyst, she worked for McKinsey in the US for some time. She got married to businessman Anand Piramal and they recently welcomed twins.

The Ambani family seems to be maximizing the value of its education and ideas. NMACC adds to their revenue streams.

Anusha Dandekar, the host of the event, interacts with Nita and Mukesh Ambani.

A smart businessman, Mukesh Ambani's current net worth is 83.5 billion USD according to Forbes. He engaged all three of his children into his businesses, making them even stronger as a result of their education at top Western universities such as Yale, Stanford, Brown University in the US. As a result, the children are developing new ideas and collaborating with other powerful businesses around the world. It is great news for the Indian economy. Having strong support from the Indian government, as well as being influenced by the powerful and famous Bollywood industry, the risk of business failure is minimized.

As guests arrive at NMACC, Isha Ambani and her family welcome them.

The audience was taken on a journey of Nita Ambani's life and her vision for NMACC.

Social media had mixed reactions to it and most noticed the absence of artists from the other southern and northern regions of the country. In the northern region there is Punjabi cinema, also called Pollywood, while in the southern region there is South-Indian cinema, also called Tollywood. The artists from these regions have not felt included in Bollywood. Typically, Bollywood films combining Hindi and English are made in Mumbai.

Punjabi music has been featured in many Bollywood movies, but it has not been given exclusive recognition.

The folks from Telegu film industry, who also won an Oscar for Best Original Song "Naatu Naatu" for "RRR", didn't attend NMACC opening, and do not refer to their movies as Bollywood. There has been a debate about how Indian art is misrepresented through Bollywood and that Indian culture is not all about dancing and singing.

As time progresses, NMACC founders and the Ambani family hope to invite artists from remote villages in India and other regions and keep the youth engaged, involved, educated and motivated.
