Nepotism in Bollywood: The practice among those with power or influence of favouring

People who entered bollywood without any prior Bollywood connections

The practice among those with power or influence of favoring relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs.

As per definition and such. Or just listen to Ranaut; she's laid it all out for you, especially regarding the "kids" Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor. Now now, let's not address middle-aged adults as kids; after all 'it only happens in India'. The nepotism debate continues, among new babies being born and Karan Johar deciding to bomb us with yet another not so fabulous Bollywood wives season and finally kill us all. If it's not war with these tv shows flushing out good production money, I'd rather survive The Bachelor. Thanks, but no thanks. Nepotism is a topic that recently has been highlighted in conversations as Gen Z kids of star families do not believe in pursuing or changing the system that runs India every day. Every one of them wants to pose for the camera and is hungry for the limelight that haunts them all.

Where was the media around Nepotism when Rishi followed his father and then came Lolo, and then Bebo, spare us the horrors of Khushi. Although, Mera Naam Joker and the performances of Rishi Kapoor entered at a very young age have been memorable. Given, acting is hard and not everyone stays if they don't give it all but would these nepo kids ever understand the struggle of an actor whose passion eats them daily but they have to make sure their stomach does too? Sure, not every passionate actor "lives on the road" but what about those with other mouths to feed, bills to pay, jobs to keep and passion to sweep under the rug each night? Not every aspiring actor heart has mummies and daddies who pay for classes in New York and coaches in LA. What would nepo kids know that reaching auditions isn't expensive dinners and expensive classes? It is the daily grind of reaching something, something next, something closer to your neverending ladder of Bollywood dreams. My heart goes to all the performers desperate to get a chance on tv but privileged nepo adults are standing at the door to snatch it away from them.

Just listen to Isha Koppikar below:

For they will always stay the first serve. That's how great India sadly works, right?

Therefore there can never be excellence and expansion. Therefore, we will repeatedly see the boring khichdi created by story writers like Karan Johar who doesn't want to budge from his central theme of cheese galore. I personally have been a Kuch Kuch Hota Hai fan but even today, I find myself watching the same story, just different sets and actors.

  • When is India going to grow out of its Bollywood-worshipping shell?

  • When will talent be truly seen as itself and movies made for the sake of art?

  • What happened to bringing out humanity with a reel?

  • What happened to stories that kept us alive?

  • Can we meet for the sake of this sacred meeting in life and can movies be seen as such? Sacred? Remember Pakeezah?

Too many gods in temples, and too many worshippers pouring all over. Imagine if worship was poured deep into creative work, creative work that spoke to your soul and stood for the sake of its belonging, give Indian cinema it's original color back before nepotism ate it alive?
