There are mass cancellations at Dallas airports due to winter weather after a storm slams the south and cancels more than 1,900 flights.

Another day of harsh winter weather disrupts thousands of flights in the South on Wednesday.

Through Wednesday, Texas and nearby states were expected to experience freezing rain and sleet, as the storm began Monday.

Approximately 1,900 flights have been canceled across the U.S. as of 10:30 a.m. ET, according to the flight tracking website FlightAware.

FlightAware reports another 950 delays.

Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport had to cancel about 68% of its flights. In the meantime, more than half the flights from and to Dallas Love Field had been canceled by 9 a.m. ET.

Among Dallas-based carriers American and Southwest, 27% and 13% of flights had already been canceled by 10:30 ET, respectively.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, sleet and freezing rain are forecasted to continue through Wednesday night and Thursday.

In a tweet Wednesday, the NWS office in Little Rock, Arkansas, stated that "this crazy period of winter weather across the state is coming to an end" however, there is "one more round of wintry precipitation to go."

"An area of mostly freezing rain is expected to develop and move across the state," the office tweeted.

During Wednesday's storm, much of Oklahoma's southern half and north Texas will experience freezing rain and sleet.

Furthermore, an ice storm warning is in effect across far southern Oklahoma into north Texas where ice accumulations of over one quarter of an inch are possible.

Several states, including Texas, West Virginia, and Louisiana, have been issued winter storm and ice storm warnings, watches, and advisories.
