Los Angeles: HAZMAT issues fire alert to DTLA after hand sanitizer tray box catches fire


Hazardous Materials Management (HAZMAT) crews dispatched to downtown Los Angeles after a stack of pallet boxes containing hand sanitizer caught fire.

The fire broke out in the 100 block of East 16th Street around noon Monday.


Firefighters in full PPE set out to use foam

Contains flammable vapors while limiting overall water consumption.


LAFD spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said sand was ordered at Palomar Street and 18th Street toward East Washington Avenue.



The State Water Resources Control Board and the county health department have been notified of the incident, noting that the area has been affected to limit water runoff by damming.


No injuries were reported.
