For the first time, laying it all out there and referring to her IVF attempts, Aniston said, "You don't think it. So here I am today. The ship has sailed."

"All the years and years of speculation...It was really hard. I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese teas, you name it."

The Friends star revealed that she "would've given anything" for someone to have told her "freeze your eggs."

Celebrities go through the constant pressure of speculation, and sometimes people don't have a complete insight into what people are going through. You must have heard stories about fertility struggles from a friend or colleague or might be experiencing them yourself - know that you are NOT alone. Such topics give a platform for open-table conversations on one of the most common and painful "struggles of conceiving past a certain age."

The way our lives have become, in the times of technology when everybody is focused on making money in their 20s and 30s while they are young, choosing a career over building a family is the norm and complex at the same time. Women in their 30s are eager to explore all options while pursuing a career (or whatever the reason). If you are not ready to start a family yet, would you consider freezing your eggs and feel assured?

BEST AGE to freeze eggs

According to Houstonmethodist, "Studies suggest that women who freeze their eggs before age 35 have a better chance of a successful pregnancy than those who freeze their eggs after age 35." This is because the more eggs retrieved and frozen, the better the chance of a successful pregnancy. Age 37 is the ideal time for egg freezing, and women at this age are twice as likely to get pregnant than those with none, according to reuniterx.com.

"Egg freezing will not stop your monthly period." - extendfertility.com.

Is the process of freezing eggs painful?

The process of egg-freezing, or in medical speak, oocyte cryopreservation, involves stimulating the ovaries with hormones to produce multiple eggs, retrieving the eggs from the ovaries and taking them to the lab, where they're cooled to subzero temperatures to be thawed at a later date, mentions pbs.org. According to ccrmivf.com, "Some women experience bloating and discomfort during ovarian stimulation (similar to PMS symptoms). The egg retrieval process is done under light sedation and is not painful."

What are the disadvantages of freezing your eggs?

"There is always the chance of loss during the thawing process, both with eggs and embryos. However, since eggs are a bit more fragile than embryos, you may lose more eggs than you anticipated when you decide to thaw them afterwards", said onefertilitykitchenerwaterloo.com. Dr. Maslow said, "egg freezing won't lower your ovarian reserve and won't decrease your chances of getting pregnant naturally in the future."

How much does it cost for a woman to freeze her eggs?

"Without insurance, egg freezing can range from $10,000 to $20,000, including medication, doctor visits and the surgical procedure to remove the eggs. It doesn't, however, include the yearly storage fee for your frozen eggs, which can be up to $800 a year" - npr.org.

The source PFCLA.com suggests, "Medications are typically around $3,000 to $6,000, depending on how much your body needs. Storage is an additional cost of $700-$1,000 a year.

According to Pacificfacility.ca, "Mature eggs are frozen (cryopreserved) using flash-freezing technology called vitrification. Eggs can be frozen for an indefinite amount of time without damage to the eggs. According to Canadian guidelines, women can use their frozen eggs to achieve a pregnancy up until age 50."

Is it worth freezing your eggs?

Well, take it from Lolavie founder Jennifer Aniston, and compare it with other options such as surrogacy, adoption, etc., which can cost you way more than you anticipate. Those processes are not seamless either and are somewhat complicated.

The choice is yours!
