Trevor Noah announced he signed off as host of The Daily Show one last time. While no new show host has yet to be announced, the show will return in 2023 and spend most of the year led by a series of guest hosts.
But he kept his final and most heartfelt thanks to Black women. Noah often spoke of his mother and grandmother on the show and what he learned from the women who raised him as a child in South Africa. Noah expounded on the notion by stating that when it comes to who really can properly interpret this world, it’s Black women. “I’ve often been credited with having these grand ideas. People are like, ‘Oh, Trevor, you’re so smart.’ And then I’m like, ‘Who do you think teaches me? Who do you think has shaped me, nourished me, informed me?’ From my mom, my grand, my aunts — all these Black women in my life.”
