G.O.A.T Ronaldo arrives in Saudi Arabia ahead of Al-Nassr unveiling
Saudi Arabian locals welcomed Cristiano Ronaldo as he arrived in Saudi Arabia ahead of his unveiling as an Al-Nassr player.
Cristiano will let his 2.5-year contract with Al-Nassr expire. Sources at the Saudi Arabian club have told ESPN that reports of a clause allowing Ronaldo to join Newcastle United on loan should they qualify for next season's Champions League are "false."
Ronaldo, who turns 38 on February 5, will make his official debut as an Al Nassr player at the club's Msool Park stadium at 7pm. Tuesday (11 a.m. ET) local time.
After a series of disciplinary issues at the club, the Portugal captain ended his contract with Manchester United in a deal worth $75 million a year, making him the highest-paid player in football.
Newcastle sources refuted the suggestion that the club had the option to sign Ronaldo if they qualified for the Champions League, while an Al-Nassr source told ESPN that the story was "all fake."
Al-Nassr hosts Al Taee on Thursday, but sources say Ronaldo's debut will likely come against Riyadh rivals Al Shabab on January 14.
Cristiano posted on his Instagram account,
