Brampton — On April 6, 2023, Mayor Patrick Brown announced the launch of Brampton's first ever E-scooter program via Instagram. Following a competitive procurement process, Neuron mobility, Bird Canada and Scooty mobility have been selected to operate shared scooters in Brampton.
A total of 750 scooters will be available for public use throughout Brampton, according to the mayor. The purpose of this program is to encourage the community to adopt more sustainable, green, attractive, healthy, and safe travel options.
City staff will closely monitor this pilot program and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of all road users.
City staff will be able to evaluate the performance and operation of a micromobility system under test conditions and gather data that can support recommendations for a possible permanent solution.
The term micromobility refers to the use of small, lightweight vehicles for short distance transportation, operating at speeds typically lower than 25 km/h and driven by the individual. Read more here!
