Toronto — An INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT occurred at Lower Sherbourne & The Esplanade at 2:57pm on April 3, 2023.
The incident occurred on a construction site.
A worker was reported to have become trapped in a tunnel.
Toronto Fire & Police were dispatched to the scene.
Lower Sherbourne was closed from the Lake Shore to The Esplanade.
Travelers in the area were asked to consider alternative routes.
On Apr 3, 2023, at 3:44 pm, the police provided an update that the worker had been rescued and was being transported to a hospital. In addition, the Ministry of Labour will be present.
A second update was provided by the police at 4:08pm. According to the police, the victim has sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries. Roads have been reopened.
