A pediatric surgeon dresses up children in superhero costumes to wear on their way to surgery so they can leave their parents behind with confidence.

Passionate about his little patients, Leandro brings joy to them pre-surgery so they can go in feeling brave like the superheroes they love. Each kid selects their own superhero costume and (sometimes) zooms to the operating room with Leandro. As vulnerable as it feels to be in charge of children’s lives and health, Leandro sends us a powerful message of love and courage in the face of the unknown. These little superheroes teach us to go in as our best selves, to not be afraid and to face whatever comes with a little flight, some chuckle and a lot of pizzazz! Someone commented on Reddit saying, “this is how I’d like to go as an older adult, we fear surgeries and medical procedures too”. Suffice to say we need more creative surgeons to help us fear surgeries less! Kudos to medical practitioners that keep the human element alive in their practices.
