A homicide unit is investigating a fatal shooting in Vaughan

Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide Unit are seeking witnesses and information after an early-morning fatal shooting in the City of Vaughan.



On March 9, 2023, at 3:45 a.m., York Regional Police responded to a call for a man who had been shot in the area of Dufferin Street and Summeridge Drive. The victim was transported to a trauma centre but was pronounced deceased a short time later.


Members of the York Regional Police Homicide Unit were notified and took carriage of the investigation.


While investigating this incident, York Regional Police became aware of two additional victims with gunshot wounds, a male and a female, who were found by police in the City of Toronto. Our investigators are working closely with the Toronto Police Service to determine whether or not this incident is connected to the shooting that occurred in Vaughan.


The investigation is in the early stages and there is no additional information at this time. York Regional Police will provide an update when more information becomes available.


Investigators are urging any witnesses who have not yet come forward to do so, and are asking anyone with information or video recordings related to this crime, to contact police as soon as possible.
